= The Java Identity Management System - why Duke should get the best
Speaker = Skip Vail (Sun Microsystems)
Abstract = Sun is the #1 leader (according to Gartner) in enterprise wide Identity and Access management systems across all platforms. The Java IdM system uses agentless technology to manage everything from secure ERP enterprise applcations, to email, to departmental systems. Dozens of Universities including Harvard, CMU, Univ. of Colorado and many others have discovered Java IdM as the most versatile, secure and audit trail rich Identity and Access system for a diverse campus.

Title
= Six approaches to storing information more intelligently
Speaker =Robert Burgess (EMC)
Abstract = With annual data growth rates of 50 to 60 percent, the amount of information stored in organizations today has reached epic proportions. And there's no slowdown in sight. With growing user populations and the implementation of newer-and bigger-applications, organizations will soon need to be prepared to handle exabytes of information but the growth in data volume isn't the only challenge facing businesses. To stay competitive and agile, organizations are focused on creating process efficiencies, while reducing both operational and energy costs. Unfortunately, traditional approaches to storage will not work in this new reality. With mounting business pressures, rapid deployment of new applications, and massive growth in data volume, it's no longer a matter of storing more. Instead, organizations will need to find ways to store more intelligently. In this session we will discuss strategies to help you manage your data growth and new approaches to more efficiently and effectively store, protect, optimize and leverage your information.

Title
= Enterprise Management 2.0 - Frameworks for command and control
Speakers = Jesse Ward-Karat (BigFix)
Abstract = Most existing enterprise computer management software has grown organically from an original narrowly focused product, to a convoluted collection of loosely related parts. Instead of doing one thing well, these collections attempt to do everything under the sun and typically end up doing it poorly. A new approach to enterprise management tools is on the horizon. New tools will change the status quo by providing a framework agnostic to the underlying tasks that need to be accomplished. These frameworks will furnish high level features such as administration, communication, and reporting, thereby freeing companies to focus on specific areas of expertise without worrying about scaling beyond a single endpoint. The frameworks will allow these companies to "plug-in" to the framework, rapidly gaining command and control capabilities suitable for management in a large enterprise environment.

Title
= Going Mobile - the new internet
Speakers = Robert McDaniels (Adobe)
Abstract = The number one camera manufacturer in the world is now Nokia. This telling statistic along with the fact that the fastest growing segment of internet connected devices are mobile phones, tells us that the future for information delivery must include a way to reach mobile phones. Adobe's recent release of Creative Suite 3 includes valueable tools for authoring to this soon-to-be critical segment. You will learn what capabilities many phones have right now, how to format information to reach them, and what types of applications are possible. You'll seen new tools in action, like Device Central that let's you build content customized for the target devices you want to reach, and you can even test your design right at your desktop.

Title
= Transform IT Infrastructure with Enterprise-Class Virtualization
Speakers = Matt Portnoy (VMWare)
Abstract = This session is designed for participants to gain awareness and obtain answers to their questions from VMware solution experts. We will explore customer implementations of a virtual infrastructure enterprise-class solution. Typical customer results include: ROI of 6-9 months TCO savings of 35%-75% Increased hardware utilization by 50-70% Decreased hardware and software capital costs by 40% Decreased operating costs by 50-70% Increased server to server administrator ratio from 10:1 to 30:1. VMware Infrastructure 3 is the next generation of industry-leading infrastructure virtualization software suite. This proven software virtualizes servers, storage and networking, to allow multiple unmodified operating systems and their applications to run independently in virtual machines while sharing physical resources. The suite delivers comprehensive virtualization, management, resource optimization, application availability and operational automation capabilities.

Title

In our business lives, printer fleets are being rightsized and copiers are now being connected to your network. This convergence of printing, copying, scanning (digital sending) can bring you more benefits than you may realize... And HP provides devices that are not only functional, but simple and cost effective. Join us to see how you can unleash the power of your HP printer MFPs.

Title
= Storage Virtualization
Speakers = Toby Creek (NetApp)
Abstract = A virtualized infrastructure from servers to storage maximizes utilization, performance, resiliency, and ROI. Although customers can experience dramatic improvements in server utilization and manageability, these benefits place a much higher demand on storage subsystems to support higher I/O rates, greater capacity, and faster nondisruptive provisioning. Failure to consider cost-effective storage optimization in the design and deployment of a server virtualization infrastructure can simply transfer costs from servers to the storage infrastructure. To maximize the benefits of your IT infrastructure, NetApp is partnering with VMware to offer solutions and best practices for the design of a virtualized infrastructure from servers to storage, with storage solutions that can deliver: - Scalable and consistent I/O performance for all ESX protocols (NFS, iSCSI, and FCP) - Flexible, rapid, simple, and cost-efficient provisioning and data management solutions - Best-in-class virtualized storage for thin provisioning of heterogeneous storage environments
