Title = Using web SSO with your applications
Speaker = Klara Jelinkova, Anne Marie Alexander
Abstract = OIT provides a Web single sign-on (SSO). The Web SSO system leverages campus identity and access management infrastructures to authenticate individuals and then sends information about them to the resource site, enabling the resource provider to make an informed authorization decision. Interested in using and leveraging it to access resources? Looking for some guidance for technical staff on connecting it up to applications too? Come and join us. We will offer concrete practice and real-world experience in integrating departmental applications with central authentication system. We will provide guidance on authorization questions and clarify the use of additional attributes to determine eligibility. We will also distribute an authentication checklist and a request procedures.

Title
= What System Administrators Need to Know about eDiscovery
Speaker = Kate Hendricks
Abstract = On December 1, 2006, amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure concerning the discovery portion of the litigation process went into effect. Similar legislation was previously enacted in many states. Although discovery has included electronic materials for some time, the amendments specifically recognize ESI, or electronically stored information, and E-Discovery, the process by which ESI is exchanged during the early stages of litigation. ESI includes all data contained in electronic format ranging from instant messages, to voice mail, to word processing documents whether stored on a hard drive, a PDA or a flash drive. Evidence of destruction or failure to produce ESI during E-Discovery can lead to costly penalties, sanctions, and loss of the lawsuit as a whole. We will discuss the concepts of ediscovery, the departments' and schools' responsibilities, and some best practices.

Title
= Customer Service, from good to great with less stress
Speaker = Molly Tamarkin
Abstract = Customer service can seem overwhelming; the more services you provide, the greater the expectations. The greater the expectations, the more likely you will not meet them, particularly given finite time and resources. And, not meeting expectations, or feeling overwhelmed, creates stress. So, how can we ensure great customer service under these constraints without burning out? This session will focus on tips and techniques for providing great service while reducing stress.

Title
= Innovation, Fair Use & Web 2.0, or What the DMCA Does Well
Speaker = Kevin Smith
Abstract = This presentation will look at recent developments in intellectual property law and practice to discern opportunities for innovation. It will examine three broad issues: the role of recent fair use cases in facilitating user-generated content creation, the DMCA's safe harbor provisions as support for innovative applications of fair use (as well as some challenges to those provisions), and proposed solutions to the so-called "orphan works" problem that often prevents creative reuse of content long past its period of economic value.
